Just released

Just letting you know that after murdering my children I have been released from the psychiatric prison. The Judge at my trial agreed with my actions and let me off!

My kids are driving me nuts

Today for the first time I thought to myself 'I am ready for my kids to go back to school.' Which is quite different to me being ready to go back to work. My children are great kids, but they have all been in far too good moods today and have been having a fabulous time playing games very, very loudly through the house, playing really, really loud games on the Nintendo and in general just being extremely boisterous. Now I'm exhausted, have drunk two glasses of wine, want to sit quietly and they are still arking it up. Roll on bed time!! David immerses himself in the world of PSP as soon as dinner finishes and then I don't hear from him again until about nine o'clock when the girls are in bed. Imagine not having anyone to talk to in a house of six people!!
Anyway... David had went into work today so the kids and I spent a day at home. I went down to have coffee with my neighbour and she gave me a heap of plants, which Caitlyn and I planted out. I made a really yummy chicken, with prosciutto and asparagus for tea.
That's about it for now, anyone want a few kids for a few days??
Take care,
Chris.

Monday

Mum came up today to have lunch with us. We went out to do some retail therapy, I took her to my new favourite shop which is a little gift shop attached to a nursery which is just divine, I resisted (because I don't have any money) Mum bought herself a few lovely things for her house and a gift for me.
I had some exciting news today, I have been selected as a winner of round two of Premier's Teacher of the Year award. I'm really proud and pleased about that but to be honest a bit embarrassed too, there are many, many more deserving teachers, I was lucky to have been nominated with a really well written nomination. Anyway, Yippee!! I also get $1,000 and go along to a breakfast with other winners on the 3rd December.
Dave's parents came up for the day yesterday with his uncle and aunty from England. This is their first time in Australia and they've only been here a couple of days. They had been very lucky to have a couple of days of perfect weather to arrive to. We spent a lot of the day sitting out on the balcony drinking wine and eating too much food - again. After lunch we went up to Araleun and spent a couple of hours strolling through the gardens - the wisteria is beautiful at the moment.
Today the weather has been awful, tomorrow I'm heading up to a friend's for lunch, hopefully that beautiful weather will return.
Take care,
Chris.

Half way already!

I can't believe the holidays are half way through already, time is flying far too fast. But on a positive note how perfect is this weather? You really couldn't ask for better holiday weather and we have been really making the most of it.
On Thursday we took mum out and played botanical golf which was wonderful. It was a great day because David won so we didn't have him sulking all afternoon because I beat him again. After we played Dave and the girls had the biggest pieces of chocolate cake you've ever seen, I resisted but ended up finishing them when they couldn't eat them all anyway - so it was a good thought that didn't end up quite so good.
How hard is losing weight? Every time I step on the scales I'm scared and they aren't letting me down - those numbers are getting bigger and bigger. I'd set myself a goal to get down to 65kg's by my birthday, which is three weeks from today - unless I stop eating now and don't eat again until after my birthday that's not going to happen.
Robyn and Tim, friends from David's work, came up last night and we went to the Elizabethan Pub for tea. A great night, lots of laughter etc... We all had WAY to much to eat. I had bruschetta which was so good but was actually made from bread soaked in oil so that it was actually dripping fat, topped with slices of feta and sundried tomato. Then I had fisherman's basket which was good but very fatty. The worst of it was we are all trying to be healthy and lose weight and didn't think the food was worth it to break the diet.
Oh well!!
Take care,
Chris.

Another big night...this is becoming a habit.

Darianne and Colin came down from Kalgoorlie so Nat and Steve and Rhonnda came up and had tea with them at our house. A great night, a little bit quieter because Jennie wasn't here, but a lot of fun nevertheless. I think we ended up drinking about 7 bottles of wine between the four of us that were drinking but we all pulled up well this morning. We ended up calling it a night at 1.30a.m and then I was up and picking the kids up from Midland at 9.00a.m.
Rhonnda left her dishes here so came up for coffee and to collect them this morning. She bought her grandson Michael with her and we went down to Roley Pools for a bush walk. We were all very excited to find some really big yabbies in the water there.
This evening Caitlyn and I created a new game where we take it in turns to sit on a skate board with a rope under our arms, the other person holds both ends of the ropes and controls the speed as we roll down the hill. We live on a HUGE hill so it was quite scary but lots of fun. We started on the less steep side of the hill and then got very brave and went down the steep side. Dylan, decided to join in, and of course didn't need the rope to skate down the hill, after a few minor heart failures I called an end to that and came inside to help David with tea. He had cooked a fabulous roast chicken but was stroppy because his cheese sauce was lumpy. We ate out on the balcony, a perfect end to a lovely day. Michael came out and joined us and we had an interesting conversation about the pros and cons of vegetarianism.
Take care,
Chris.

Holidays, Day two!

Day two of the holidays, another lovely day. Spent hours whipper snipping the grass that had grown unchecked so that it's now about a metre tall. I feel a bit shaky now, I think it was all a bit much for my body.
Cait has gotten really into skipping so has spent quite a bit of time outside doing that. We were outside having a skip while David was out and she tripped over the rope and fell head first into a wall. She's okay but she's got a few scratches here and there and her shoulder is very sore, on a positive note she can run in now.
Dyan's friend Luke is staying the night, hopefully we will be getting some sleep tonight because I'm really tired. Because of David's broken rib I got up to the cats last night, I think we might be putting them up for adoption soon, we'll see how David mends. Of course he hasn't actually been the the doctors yet to get the x-rays but he is making sure he doesn't do any work just in case!! Just kidding David!!
I have been spending time lately reading other blogs on the internet, it's really interesting, like reading someone else's journal. Some people write really well, and very enjoyable to read. Made me feel a bit disappointed about my own contribution, oh well, life's like that.
Not much else happening.
Take care,

Chris

Holidays!

First day of holidays... Cait and I went to an open garden, did some gardening, went to the shops - bought the girls some clothes, finished my book, had a yummy steak and salad for tea, am now relaxing with a glass of wine...aahhh...this is the life.
Pete thanks for the offer, I'll let you know if anyone needs their knees breaking if they try to steal my job. Only a true friend would offer to 'have a chat' on behalf of a friend. Can we get together over the holidays? Perhaps a meal and a drink at our place? Rod would be welcome too if he'd like to come... as long as he promises not to talk about Dr Who.
How cool is this?? I commented on a great blog that I found while browsing blogspot 'Ashfab' a lady who seemed to be a girl after my own heart, and I got a comment back. Honestly a small thing that can make you feel like you've won lotto. So coooll!! I thought it was wicked that 'Ashfab' said she was having a bit of trouble with my dialect, figuring out what I was talking about sometimes when I was blogging, how funny to think that you have an accent that comes through in your writing, or it could be that I have really bad grammar...please tell me it isn't so???
David and I went to Britt's (a friend from work) for tea and drinks last night. We had a blast. We decided to have chinese for take away from Mr Tan, we made sure that we sent Steve down to pick it up because he wasn't there last week when we all made fools of ourselves. David was very quiet throughout the evening because he had played his football game against the year twelves and hurt himself quite badly. To add insult to injury they lost the football match by five points.
Take care,
enjoy your holidays if you're lucky enough to be having one,
Chris

I've got a job

Yes, that's right, I've got a job...my job to be exact - I am going to be the art specialist at school again next year. (wow - what a lot of punctuation in one sentence, I told you I love punctuation) Just got the letter in the mail. Now I have to keep my fingers crossed that a permanent teacher doesn't come and take it off me again.
I run an art group for year 7 students in lunch time on Tuesday, the girls are making special projects that will be auctioned at the arts night next term. It's a great time because they are all lovely girls who really appreciate being part of this group and their projects are looking fabulous. One of my girls said to me today "Mrs Brown, you are looking particularly glamorous today" High praise from a year seven girl, it made my day.
We are having open night tomorrow night at school, my room still looks like a tip - it's going to be a long day tomorrow. I'll be there by 8 and working through to 6, that's a long day.
Kids are well, Jamie is looking forward to her school band performing tomorrow at the open night, so am I, they have been practicing really hard.
We had morning tea and lunch put on for us today - I didn't even manage to last one day on weight watchers - I'm so weak.
Well, I think that's it, just a quicky to say "I've got a job!!!"
Take care,
Chris

5 days to go

What a lovely weekend. Friday night we had takeaway from the local cafe that have started cooking pizzas - we had half smoked salmon/ half sweet potato, it was so good.
David and I went up to Toodyay for the day yesterday, went out for lunch and a stroll by the river, lovely!! We came home and in the arvo I fell asleep, I think a hangover from my late night Friday.
Today we got some jobs done around the house, David cleaned the pool and I did a heap of gardening. In the afternoon we took the girls down to Roley Pools for a bush walk and took lots of beautiful photo's.
Right now I'm chilling out and David is cooking us chicken with Camembert, wrapped in bacon. I've put on two kilo's and I've promised myself that I'm back on weight watchers tomorrow so this is a bit like 'the last supper.'
Five days to go...WOOHOO!!

2.44a.m.

It's 2.44a.m. on Saturday morning. My body clock has been going crazy lately, often I am finding myself still laying awake at two or three or waking at the same time and then not getting back to sleep. It's driving me mad, I've never had a problem sleeping before...oh well, perhaps it's part of getting old, and I get to watch some really bad shows on Foxtel.
It's been another flat out week this week, the spelling bee was the highlight on Thursday. We had around two hundred students and teachers attend and it went off without a hitch, it was really great. The only dilemna was that we ran out of time at the end and had to announce the last five contestants equal winners. The problem was the kids were too good and these last five just weren't getting out. I think of myself as a pretty good speller but these guys were just outstanding!!
I had my job interview today, thank goodness that's over. I think it well and my friend, who is the deputy and was on the panel for the interview was positive afterwards so that's good. I'm not sure when I'll hear. It's a clear vacancy position which means if I get it and no permanent teacher transfers into the position then I will have the job permanently, so that will be a great thing.
James has been having bike ed. at school, she just started it today and enjoyed it. She was a bit annoyed with herself for wearing tight pants because it made bike riding a bit difficult but I'm sure she'll remember next week.
Dylan's off to the zoo tomorrow with mates, I told him if the weather is fine David and I might go to the zoo and meet him there, he was not impressed.
The laptop keeps flashing low battery at me so I think I'll head off and try to get some sleep.
Take care,
Chris

I hope it's worth the wait!

I'd like to think the fact that I haven't written on my blog since Tuesday is indicative of how flat out I have been this week. I am sitting out the back at the table looking out over my beautiful garden that Kane has done a wonderful job of weeding for me. I have just, in the last five minutes, finished typing up my job application, YAY!!
Dylan is entertaining me by jumping his bike over the ramp he has made over a small concrete ridge. The most entertaining this is that it's only about five metres from the fence so when he gets up speed he crashes straight into the fence, highly amusing! HA! It just happened again, this is the most fun I've had all week, he's fabulous. Dylan's stopped now, he obviously didn't find crashing into the fence as amusing as I did.
We went out to tea on Friday night for Chinese, it was Darianne's last day. It was very sad. Unfortunately she had wwwaaaayyyyyyy too much to drink and doesn't actually remember anything of the evening, I was a very supportive friend and held her hair as she vomited in the bushes.
Christiaan was lusting after the waitress but we were trying to decide if she was over 18 or not so he decided not to get her number, he did however get her to teach him how to make the fancy origame serviettes that we had on our table. My Tan, the owner, is the parent of one of our ex-students and gave us a huge discount for our meals. It was ....
Oh my! Dylan just decided that he would be better off on Cait's bike and had a huge stack!!
Oh well - as I was saying it was embarrassing to be from Greenmount Primary on Friday night, I think Mr Tan would be thinking "I'm glad my son doesn't go to that school anymore."
My battery ran out half way through this blog so it's now time for tea. Mum and Merv are up for tea tonight so I'm off. David is cooking us a yummy roast, I can't wait.
Take care,
Chris

Tea with Ma

The highlight of my day today was going to have tea with Mum and Merv. It was lovely catching up for a chat and Mum cooked a beautiful dinner, fish, mashed potatoes and vege's, YUM!! I really need to win lotto so that I can see more of my mum i.e. work less....
David was sick today so stayed home from work, he's feeling much better but isn't talking to me anymore because I didn't come home and cook him dinner.
I'm in the middle of writing a merit selection application at the moment, along with organising the Swan District Spelling Bee Final next week, getting the art room ready for the open night the following week and trying to get all of the students' exhibition pieces finished in time for the Arts night next term, I'M EXHAUSTED!! I've been very lucky to have been given extra DOTT time to organise things but I'm still really tired.
Take care,
I love you Mum,
Chris.

Toodyay Today.

Today David and I took the girls up to visit Rhonnda, a friend from work, who lives in Toodyay.
Rhonnda has bought fourteen acres in the middle of the country side up there, it's beautiful. At fifty two she has just become the caretaker of her three year old grandson. She is one of the most beautiful people in the world, she's had a pretty hard time of things, it's not fair really.
Anyway, we had a lovely day, the weather was beautiful and we spent most of the time sitting outside and chatting in the sun. Cait made a 100 daisy 'daisy chain.' James took a book with her and spent quite a bit of time sitting on the front deck reading.
Not much else to say really.
I'm quite looking forward to school tomorrow because there's only fifteen days of school left and after tomorrow there's only fourteen days left. YAY!!
Take care,
Chris.

Friday night at the movies.

I'm laying in bed writing this, feeling quite lazy and looking forward to a lovely lazy weekend. My muscles are still a bit sore from running seventy five metres in the parent, teacher, student relay at the sports carnival in the week (students won) so I am procrastinating getting out of bed.
I went out with some friends last night to the movies, but let me start the story at the beginning.
After school yesterday Murray came to school to pick the girls up for the night, Caitlyn went to get her stuff out of the car and locked the keys in the boot. I rang David to come and unlock it but he had footy training so couldn't come until six o'clock. So I went back into the staff room and had one or two drinks two many. Time came where everyone was starting to head off and I was picturing myself sitting alone in the carpark waiting for David. Nat asked if I'd like to come along to the pictures with her, Helena and Jane (a mum from school) At this stage I have to say that I really wasn't thinking too clearly but clearly enough to say "what about Dave?" So Christiaan offered to take David out for a boys' night because he is feeling lonely and was feeling over girls at the time, although I'm sure he's over that by now.
We went to see an Irish movie called 'Once' The music was amazing, I thought the film was okay. Apparently it is really fantastic and Steven Spielberg says it's his favourite ever movie or something. David says I have the taste in music and movies of a fourteen year old girl. I like pop music and hollywood movies so it wasn't really my taste but it was okay. The kebabs before hand were great though.
Christiaan and David had a good night and Dave was very excited that there were girls checking them out. Luckily for them they didn't act on their lustful thoughts otherwise I would have had to track them down and beat them up.
Only three weeks until the holidays, YAY!! I can't wait.

Feeling Fat!

Jamie made me a vegimite sandwich today for my lunch. I forgot to take it to the staff room so I just had coffee for lunch but then after school they had profiteroles, cakes and biscuits and by then I was really hungry so I ate heaps. I have to go back to Weight Watchers to weigh in tomorrow night, to maintain LTM (life time membership) I have to stay within two kg's of goal. I was trying to be really good but my will power is so low and chocolate tastes so good.
Pete commented that he'd lost 4 kg's in one week, I never asked how you did it..got any tips?
The girls and I were due to go to Nanna's for tea tonight but she was really sick to we had to give it a miss, hopefully she's feeling better. James stayed home from school yesterday, I know that she is really ill if she asks to stay home because she loves school. She stayed with Mum but Mum was really ill and spent the day in bed too, she had a stomach gastro thing, I hope you are feeling better Mum if you are reading this.
Michael had his first classes of economics and chemistry this week which he enjoyed and is hoping to continue with next year, he is hoping to be a lawyer and keep his mum in the manner to which she'd like to become accustomed.
Take care,
Chris.

Spring has sprung!

Seriously, how beautiful was the weather today, I love spring. Cait came out from class today in such a good mood, which is actually a bit unusual for her of late, I said "Cait, you're in such a good mood have you had a great day?" She said "no, I had a really bad day but I feel really good anyway!" She had had a fight with two friends which when you are 9 is absolutely devastating. But she's okay now, her and Dylan are playing 'Battlefield 1942.'
I had no classroom today because they needed it for an incursion so I was in the music room which has no desks or chairs so I decided to let the kids watch videos. I took in my lap top and got so much work done, I am thinking of doing it every Monday - I'll put the idea to the Principal tomorrow.
We had round one of the Inaugural Swan District Spelling Bee at the assembly this morning. I got three of our male teachers up to have a go, the kids loved it. I can't believe they could spell obsolescence, colloquial and entrepreneur.
Yesterday was a great day, Dave's mum and dad, Linda and Colin came up for the day with their great nieces Josie and Jade. Colin liked his present, a Tolkein book that was edited by his son, or something or other?? I was pleased he liked it because he's hard to buy presents for. David got fishes, socks, chocolates, a drink bottle and a cool ball thingy that changes colour. I bought him KFC for tea which made him really sick. I really missed my dad and thought of him a lot, I wished he could've met David, he would have really liked him.
The most exciting part of my day happened when I came home and checked my blog and two people had left comments, one my beautiful mum, and one a gorgeous guy (thanks Rod.)
Take care,
Chris

My Photos

Chris and Dave

An old photo of me with my spunky husband - it was all I could find.

A picture

Following my research into improving my blog I am trying out inserting pictures.
This is a green tree frog and I have four. (woohoo green font)
This picture is from the internet - I hope I am allowed to do that, now I am going to try to copy a photo from my computer into my blog - wish me luck.

Blog research

Thank you Rod for adding me to your 'favourite blogs' and for reading my blog because now I feel very honoured that I have two readers, I will have to start harder. When I went to Rod's blog, I found I was looking at it with the new eyes of a fellow blogger and noticed all the really cool colours and pictures and fonts and stuff. I decided to look around at some blogs and do some blog research. I really liked Jenny's blog, Rod, I wish I was funny like her, or good looking like you, or could write really long reviews like David. My problem is I'm a techno-imbicile and have no idea what I'm doing...David has given up trying to teach me computer stuff because I am a very bad student. There was going to be a comment here that has something to do with spanking but David has given his students the address for my blog so I won't go any further...just in case.
By the way, speaking of Book Week as we were, David did suggest I dress up in a Princess Leia slave girl outfit for dress up day on Friday, but I said no - I couldn't afford to pay the psychiatric bills for all the childrens.
My friends Rhonnda and Darianne came for tea last night, David was our house elf and fed us and supplied us with our alcohol, sometimes we let him speak to us but mostly he sat in the corner, quietly. Darianne is transferring to Kalgoorlie to be with her husband who is a principal there, which is very good for her but sad for us.
Take care,
Chris

Punctuation

I love punctuation - particularly exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!!

Californication!

How cool is this show? Do you love it?
(Now that's a review!!)

An exceptional day.

Today was every thing I had hoped for. I was talking to a couple of friends after work and we decided that teaching for an hour and a half was just about the perfect day, we think every day should be that way...we'd be a lot less stressed.
My friend Rhonnda has come up with this fabulous plan and I've decided to get on the band wagon with her. We're going to start our own school with six students per class. Her and I are going to be the teachers and we are going to charge $10 000 per student per year. The kids will get an excellent education - we'll get to really teach with minimum distractions and behaviour management issues - how wicked is that!! I reckon it's a win-win.
I had some very exciting news today about my job, I'm not supposed to tell anyone but I think that Pete is the only person reading my blog - a fact which I appreciate very much - not that he is the only one reading but the fact that you are reading it - Thanks Pete!! So guess what Pete - my position has been declared a clear vacancy so there is a good chance that I will get a permanent position as of next year - but that's just between you and me :) YAY!!
How come Rod isn't reading my blog - I can't believe he's really more interested in boring movies and t.v. shows than my fascinating life!!
Take care,
Chris

Hump Day!

Hump day today. A deputy that used to work at our school told me that hump day was the day of the week that it's okay to start drinking - so I have...one bourbon and coke down.
I had a lovely day today, the teacher who I job share with is at a P.D. for the next three days so we decided that I would go into her classroom and we'd get a relief teacher in for the art room, because the kiddies have had quite a few relief teachers lately and at least they know me. They are such a beautiful, well behaved class it's almost like not working.
Well, I went in early to make sure all of the art activities were set up for the day and give the relief teacher a few final instructions and went off to teach my class. I had a great day with DOTT for the whole afternoon. I went to check in with the relief teacher at the end of the day and she looked like she was just about to pass out - "I'm shattered" she said "I can't believe you do that every day"...."I know" I said. Can you tell that to the principal - I was thinking. Tomorrow I have DOTT for the morning and then DOTT for the afternoon - I'm teaching for an hour and a half...I can't wait.
Father's Day this Sunday, what can I get David? He'll be happy with some kind of toy or computer game but I hate buying them for him because he plays with them, which is what they're for and then I get mad, and he says "but that's what they're for!"
David is cleaning the cat's bum and whinging about having to clean the cat's bum when I was the one who wanted the cats in the first place - blah, blah, blah!
I'm going to get my second glass of bourbon,
Take care all my millions of readers - I love you all!
Chris.

Harry Potter

It's 3.30p.m. I just got out of bed and am still in my p.j's. I've just finished reading the new Harry Potter book. I really enjoyed it, she has such an easy to read style that I really appreciate. Apart from today I have been reading it in small snatches whenever I could steal a little bit of quiet time but I can understand how people could start reading it and not stop until it's finished. It's written at a great pace and I don't think there's any point where it really slows enough to become boring - I have to admit sometimes if a book is like that i'll just stop at the boring bit and never finish it. I really liked the way that lots of happenings from the previous books were mentioned and meaningful to this story. I knew all along that Snape wasn't a baddy - well not completely anyway. Reading it has made me want to read over the earlier books again, I think I will when I get some spare time - HA!!
Take care,
Chris

The night after the night before.

Tired!! That's an understatement. Being the old married lady that I am it's not often that I see the hour hand tick over past twelve o'clock any more. So even though I'm absolutely shattered I'm also quite proud to say that I was up until 2.30a.m. this morning, partying.
David and I invited friends over last night for tea. We had an old fashioned 'pot luck' night, everyone bought along a dish and we had a feast of curries, cacciatore, quiche, rice and Toblerone cheesecake - Yum! Jennie, Brad, Britt, Tom, Morwenna, Cam, Rhonnda and Christiaan brought along plenty of food, alcohol and very inappropriate jokes!
We overindulged on food and alcohol and god we laughed non-stop, discovering lots of secrets about each other that were probably better off left unknown. David enjoyed himself so much he was vomiting by the end of the night but we both pulled up pretty well this morning.
Lots of fun was had, including creating a new form of sign language that we would be able to use at school without anyone else knowing what we were talking about, all very uncouth of course. Much of the conversation revolved around the sex life of our twenty four year old male colleague who had enough subject matter to keep us talking all night - lucky boy!
We watched a 'boy' movie today called 'Next,' I actually enjoyed it but David wasn't able to suspend his disbelief long enough. Of course, as you may or may not know, this is not the place to read reviews of 'boy' movies so if you want to know what it's about go to members.iinet.net/~superdavey.
It's an okay blog but have a look and then make sure you vote there to say that this one is better.
Take care,
Chris.

A quickie

I'm so tired tonight. I have the Pre-primary and year ones today- three classes of them, for drama!! That's enough to wear anyone out. Had a P.D. after school about writing comments on reports. It's a bit of a contentious issue at school at the moment about how many comments specialist teachers should have to write, it looks like we've come to a compromise that we are being offered a day off later in the year to write our comments but we will have to write one for every child in the school - 450 of them - not looking forward to that day!!
The girls and I had tea with Nanna tonight - spag bog and garlic bread- yum! Nanna is well and it was lovely spending an evening with her.
Well that's it for me...I'm all done - I'm going to finish my wine and go to bed I think - 7.36p.m. isn't too early for bed is it?
Take care,
Chris

Day Off!

Cait was sick today and I stayed home to look after her. I thought I'd have a day at home to catch up on all of the housework I haven't done while I've been busy organising the spelling bee, no such luck! I did get a bit of work done but in between taking Dylan to the doctor and other bits and pieces that needed doing I didn't get much housework done. I did get to have a really long chat with mum on the phone which was a rare treat.
Dylan came into school with me today to pick up Jamie, one of the women I work with saw him and started laughing her head off - she said "I love your wig!" I said "umm....that's his real hair Heather." He took it very well and was able to laugh about it, I'm kind of hoping it might get him to get a hair cut - but I won't hold my breath.
Not much else to share today, I guess I'd better go and do some work.
Take care,
Chris

What a weekend!!

It feels like this weekend has flashed by in a matter of minutes. It's been a good one but I feel like just a little while ago it was Friday afternoon and now I am sitting here awaiting the arrival of fish and chips for my Sunday evening meal.
Mum had the kids last night so that David and I could go to a Quiz Night, which was a lovely treat. Jamie was off at her friend Alex's birthday party and Caitlyn spent the night at her Dad's, after traveling with him in his truck to Albany and back on Saturday. The boys, Dave and I all stayed at Mum's for the night after the quiz night which was a lovely treat for everyone (oops, already said that.) Dylan is thinking of moving is as he was delighted with the service, suggesting that living at Nanny's was like living in a Hotel. Michael actually questioned how it was different for him than being at home where he is also waited on...
Anyway, back to the quiz night....It was great fun, we were on a table with a friend who is a teacher with me and her husband, Helena and Stuart, and two parents from school, Jane and Doug. David was very brave early on in the evening in baring his chest to attempt to win a prize for the hairiest chest. Unfortunately he didn't win but I thought he was a winner and he was definitely the star of the night, I'll share why a little later. I also attempted to win a prize for the first person up the front with a belly button piercing, I was beaten by someone sitting just near the judging table. A bit disappointing but more unsettling that now all of the parents at school know my belly button is pierced - Oh well! I also won mobile phone bingo but didn't have my phone there to prove it. I won a really nice basket of Nutrimetics stuff in a raffle. At the end of the night we finished equal third and David went to the front of the room as the representative for our table, for an elimination round. The question was "apart from humans what is the only other mammal that has been trained to stand on it's head" after a few guesses David correctly guessed "elephant" and we were awarded third prize. The prize was some vouchers, Andrew Denton's Enough Rope book, a PDA cover and some other bits and pieces, we were well chuffed with ourselves.
After getting home from Mum's I have spent the afternoon working on the spelling bee that I am organising for schools in our local area. Sixteen schools are registered which I am pleased about, I'm really nervous though, I hope it all goes well. The kids at school are really excited, which is the aim of the whole thing to get kids motivated and excited about spelling - please keep your fingers crossed for me!
Wow!! This was a long one, I'm gonna go, I think I just heard Dave back with the chippies.
Take care,
Chris
P.S. I love ya Pete - I will try not to let my head get too big but it's so hard with all this power and when even David agrees that my blog is so much better (just kidding that was a lie!!) I promise I'll do my best - let's catch up soon!

Is it okay to P.S. on a blog????

I got chocolate!

P.S David bought me a family block of chocolate and I ate the whole lot

Dear Old 'Uncle Pete!'

I have commented during my early stages of blogging that my blog was set up for the sole purpose of showing to my family and friends that I am far funnier and wittier than David (hubby - www.members.iinet.net/~superdavey) My closest and dearest friends have been charged with the onerous task of voting in a 'blog-off' between David and myself.
Now obviously there was never any real question about whose is better because, as mentioned on David's blog, I am far funnier, better looking and more intelligent. What a let down then to learn that one of my closest, dearest and oldest family friend has turned against me to express the erroneous opinion that David's blog could actually be more entertaining than mine. 'Uncle' Pete how could you, for a man that you have only known for a few short years and hear I am favourite 'niece' that you have known since I was a delightful eight year old child....words can not express.... I will not vote you said...DAVID READ ME YOUR RESPONSE!!
This is a mayday call to my family and friends with better sense please vote now and make sure you vote for me or you too will receive words from the sharp edge of my cutting tongue!!

I need chocolate!!

I went to weight watchers this evening and was really proud to achieve my life time membership, that means I have been at my goal weight for 7 weeks, yahoo! Now I need chocolate, we have no chocolate in the house and I really need some. Give me chocolate and no one gets hurt!!
I had a nice day at work today. I have had a high school student in with me doing work place studies for the past week and a half, she's a real gem and I'm going to miss her next week when she's finished. It's made me realise what a difference it makes having help in the classroom, would anyone like to volunteer to come and help out? I can't pay you but it would be a very rewarding job.
Jamie (12 year old daughter) is doing her year eight subject selection at the moment for next year. She's very excited, I'm very sad, I'll really miss having her at the school that I teach at next year. Now when my boys went off to high school, Man! was I glad to see them go!! Just kidding - that one was for my boys who diligently read my blog.
I never realised blogging could open new lines of communication with my sons, I love you Michael and Dylan - even though you drive me crazy!!
Take care,
Chris.

Help Me!!

I was a little excited to get home a little early this evening - home to my loving teenage sons who enjoy spending many hours whiling away their time in deep conversations with me about their lives, loves and happenings (not!) and my darling husband who would rather spend time communicating with me than anything else in the world(apparently) ...and guess what we're doing?? Well, obviously i am blogging to the world hoping desperately that someone out their may be reading my comments and wanting to communicate with me by commenting on my blog and then I could comment back and then we could have an actual cyber-conversation. My loved ones here at home are all on computers also, apparently building civilisations and saving the world or something, apart from every now and again when one screams through the house at another, "Would you stop killing me!!" I'm bored!! I think I'll go and read a bit more of 'Harry Potter'. I would review what I have read so far but I would be worried I'd sound like David so I will just say "It's really good!" Don't forget to tell David next time you see him that my blog is much better than his!!
Take care,
Chris

My first critic!!

I'm not sure if it's correct netiquette to write two blogs in one day but I'm so excited I just had to share. Our first voter in the Chris vs. Dave Blogoff, my fifteen year old son Michael, has pronounced mine far funnier, he is a bit reticent to pronounce it the best because apparently he enjoys reading about t.v. shows that are far fetched and completely unbelievable, it's a good thing I love him so much. As soon as he pronounces mine the best I'll let you know.
Take care,
Chris

A blog much cooler than David's

My first blog entry, YAY!! I have no idea what I am going to write...my life doesn't contain much action...but one thing I will guarantee is that this blog is going to be way cooler than David's (my husband's) He writes about his favourite t.v. shows and computers and really boring stuff. BORING!! What will I write about?? Like I say I don't really know. I have four children, two boys and two girls, the lights of my life. Their antics are interesting enough to write a book about so I guess they will get a mention every now and again. I am a teacher of primary school art and drama so I guess that will probably feature. We have moved into a lovely home in the hills that I have huge dreams and no money for so that could be here too. I am a member of Weight Watchers, have just lost 17 kilos to reach my goal weight, which I am very proud of, but am struggling already with the maintenance so I might share my ups and downs. I am also absolutely hopeless with computers so it will be an absolute miracle if I actually get this on the internet for anyone to read but if I do, thanks for reading and take care until next time.
Chris.
